13.3" MacBook Intel Core Duo Notebook

Strengths: Unique design, fast with Core Duo chip, bluetooth, wifi, and webcam included, run windows xp, safe-removed powercord, and remote control.

Weakness: No card reader, no 800 firewire

This is an excellent notebook that I have never had before. I used to be a Windows user with my Sony Vaio; just want to learn Mac OS X and switch to Apple. This has great design with the simple look but it is unique. When you turn on the macbook, there is a neon-lighted white apple on the back of the lid. I successfully installed windows xp professional with the bootcamp software (downloaded from apple.com). Now I can boot the machine into either mac os x tiger or windows xp professional (It is really cool that xp can run on apple). I also loaded Photoshop CS2 and it works really fast. The photos look great in this glossy screen as well as the dvd playback. The included remote-control can operate the frontrow software for music and video, etc. I also bought a 22" KDS lcd monitor that can connect to the notebook via the mini DVI to DVI adaptor, an usb apple keyboard and an usb apple mighty mouse that connect to the notebook usb ports. Now I can convert the notebook to the desktop with large 22" screen with 1680 x 1050 resolution. This notebook's intel gma 960 graphic card makes the 22" screen look really sharp, especially playing dvd.

Mac Book

Strengths: Fast, full featured, compact design.

Weakness: Gets pretty hot during use.

Have been using pc for years, until now. Mac almost seems opposite in many ways to pc, but I find plus's on both systems. I am extremely pleased with the speed of the mac operating system, it is almost glitch free. I think everyone should check out a Mac. And as for the getting hot during use, I picked up a Targa notebook chillpad, and me and Mac have been chillin every since!

I love my mac!

Strengths: it's fast, easy to use, easy to install things

Weakness: I haven't found any yet, really, except that the volume on the speakers doesn't go up very high.

I love that I got a great computer, at a great price. It's small and light, easy to carry around. I bought it so I could upgrade my graphic design projects and so far it has not disappointed me.

Elegant, powerful laptop with some heat issues

Strengths: Mac Os X Tiger, 13.3" Glossy Widescreen, Intel Dual Core 2.0Ghz, Built-in webcam, Very compact and sleek design

Weakness: Somewhat hot after prolonged and processor-intensive use, the moo, only 512mb RAM

This is my first MAC after being a Windows user for 12 years. I was lured back to Apple (I had an Apple IIc as a kid), by the Intel processors and the option of being able to run Windows and OS X on the same machine.

After exploring this beautiful machine (and I do mean beautiful) for the past days, I am pleased with it. I am just starting to learn all the ins and outs of OS X Tiger, but so far, I really like it, with cool features such as the dashboard with widgets, and a much more elegant way of choosing between open windows called expose'. Also, the boot time seems a good bit faster than Windows XP. The built-in webcam is really a nice add-on that not many PC notebooks offer, and is a very high quality webcam as far as webcams go.

Of course the Intel Core Duo 2.0Ghz is a very powerful processor and is a good part of the reason I bought the Macbook. It is the same processor that is on the much more expensive Macbook Pro. The Macbook's screen is a glossy 13.3" widescreen. I was afraid the glossy would be too reflective, but it's not and it really makes the colors look more vibrant than a non-glossy screen. The keyboard is also very unique, with each key being "cut out" and standing by itself. It is very easy to type on and has a really nice feel to it.

As for the negatives, this thing does get hot. I have installed a temperature program to monitor the heat in the processor and it gets up to around 70-73 degrees celsius before the fan really kicks in. This is where another problem comes, at around 66-69 degrees the fan cuts on and off and creates a "mooing" sound that many have notices, including myself. If you have the TV blaring or music playing in Itunes, you won't notice it, but if it is quiet, you will hear it. It is not proven that this is in every Macbook, but I have the latest model that's being shipped and it's in mine. The only other drawback is that this machine really needs at least 1gb of ram and not just 512mb. With the on board video card using ram, performance starts to suffer a bit with heavy video or editing work. However, for regular internet and word processing, 512mb has been treating me fine. I will probably upgrade RAM through an internet vendor as the RAM is very easy to upgrade in the Macbook, another plus.

All in all, I really like the Macbook and will most likely be purchasing more Apple computers in the future.

Apple 13.3" MacBook Intel Core Duo Notebook

Strengths: Compact, OS X, Battery life

Weakness: Touch pad

It is quite different from using Windows for so long, takes a while to get used to. This laptop has pretty good battery life, but the touch pad is odd with no right click button. For 13.3", the laptop size and weight are quite ideal.

Yesterday I woke up to the real world. I got recently a HP Pavilion Notebook with a 64 processor running with a 32 version Vista OS. When I noticed, I try to convince them to change my OS to 64 bit and they refuse and finally I return it to the store.

Then I see the MacBook, elegant look, smart hardware. Then I change the device running native 64, AWESOME OS, features etc. Now I see PC different. Thank God I change!!!

Excellent laptop with only a few flaws

Strengths: Speed, compact build, excellent screen

Weakness: Attracts fingerprints, makes mooing noises

The MacBook is a high quality machine with only a few flaws. It is fast, compact, lightweight, and well-designed. Have no fear about the keyboard. It's excellent, despite its non-conventional looks. The glossy screen is beautiful; despite using it in a wide range of settings, I have no problems with glare. I only have two complaints: one is that the black finish collects fingerprints rather easily. It's not bad enough that I wish I had selected the white machine instead, but it's something Apple could work on for the next revision. The last is the "mooing" sound that many have commented on. It seems to be a problem only when the laptop is plugged in, but it's still annoying. My complete review (on techrecs.com) touches on some of the finer details, but the most important thing is to take a look at the laptop in person for yourself.

The Stork has Arrived

Strengths: Fast, Beautiful, Ergonomic, Slim and fits almost anywhere, Sturdy, Everything you loved in last year's Mac, and more, the user interface, EVERYTHING

Weakness: I'm not too fond of the mouse pad, but really that's just not fond of it, so there are no weaknesses. Wish the screen was bigger, the bottom gets HOT. No real directions come with this

Apple just keeps outdoing itself with these laptops. I can't possibly think of a better machine. And the fact that Apple made this "better" machine also a "beautiful" machine as well, makes me feel for PC users who don't know what they're mssing out on, or just don't care for some reason. Sigh...

Great Laptop

Strengths: Fast, Perfect Size for portability, great design, multi-platform capable

Weakness: comparably - no card reader or dedicated video processor. Speaker sound is weak.

There are times when you own something that you find well designed and purposeful. The macbook is one of those items to me. I read multiple reviews and forums and was alerted to reports of heat, discoloration, etc but have not experienced any negative issues yet. In fact, this laptop was on my lap for nearly 3 hours while I worked on a project and watched TV. I did the same thing with my Gateway laptop and was scorched. There is heat, yes but nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion. It has to be one of the best laptops on the market. What I enjoy is that although I work in a PC environment, I can take my mac and run either operating system depending on what I want to do. I prefer the Mac OS and iLife is great but when I need to, I switch to XP for Publisher by pressing two keys! I can toggle between operating systems via Parallels. It is a tool that does it all!

MacBook Black 2GHz 512MB ram 80GB HD

Strengths: Very stable running both operation interfaces

Weakness: Price for the same equipment compare to other brands

The laptop is awesome stylish and with Zero problem for me since I receive it. But the only thing that I would like to complain is the price which is about US$1500 after tax. I can get a monster laptop with this price from Dell or HP.

Macbook 13 inch intel dou notebook

Strengths: Fast, looks nice, magnetic closure, magnetic plug, great feel, can run windows on, bluetooth

Weakness: the touchpad has no right click button

This is a review for the Intel core dou macbook 13 inch. I got the one in white because my black ipod showed every tiny scratch. Now this is my second mac -- but I haven't been converted yet. In fact the only reason I kept this is because I could run windows on it (using boot camp) -- man I can hear the boo's from the Mac cult ... from my previous review of the 24 inch imac you can tell that I am not the greatest fan of the Mac OS (too much getting used to for a PC person I guess) but I am a HUGE fan of Mac design --- and this lives up to that. It has a great, quality feel, and all the little things that PC designers miss (even Sony) ... Also running windows XP pro on this thing is faster than my PC laptop (but I don't keep a lot of music or files on it) . The thing that bugs me the most about this is that the touchpad has no right clic button for easy click and paste etc.

Best Apple Laptop Ever!

Strengths: Great color, stunning glossy screen, high-speed performance, Bluetooth 2.0, AirPort Extreme, Font Row, Magnetic Latch, Built-in iSight, great battery life, iLife '06, good price

Weakness: Slightly sharp edges on case (not a worry), screen easily smudged with fingerprints.

This is a stunning Apple Laptop and is easily one of the best so far! You get everything you could possibly need at a competitive price including all the latest features and designs improvements such as iLife '06, Front Row, iSight, 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo Processor and much more!

Apple MacBook Black

The Apple iBook is gone, but the portable and powerful MacBook is here to take its place. As with the higher-end MacBook Pro, which replaced the 12-inch PowerBook, the new name suggests a new beginning: All of Apple's notebooks now feature Intel Core Duo processors. This consumer-friendly 5.2-pound system can run Windows (with free Boot Camp software), but it's Apple's elegant OS and superb...

13-inch MacBook Core Duo/2.0GHz (black)

The MacBook is very impressive, not only compared to the iBooks and PowerBook it replaces, but also compared to its new Pro brethren. It offers almost everything that people would need in a laptop. If you use non-native apps often, and prefer a SuperDrive to a Combo Drive, consider one of the faster models. But if you're a hard core 3-D gamer, the MacBook is not the Mac for you.
