Maxtor 320GB SATA Hard Drive
Strengths: Seagate in disguise; 3-year warranty
Weakness: None
I wanted to add external storage to a SATA enclosure that I had (Antec MX-1), and this fit the bill. Hard drive prices are dropping, so I got this fairly cheap. I cannot believe that I have had it for a year already, as the price is even less today. It has worked flawlessly from day one. I did have to remove a small jumper next to the SATA connector in order to get the full 3GBPS data rate. The retail kit includes a manual, software, internal sata cable and IDE -> Sata power cable.
Note that since Seagate bought Maxtor, this is actually a Seagate 320GB drive inside. They have two part numbers, corresponding to Seagate & Maxtor. The downside is that the Maxtor drives only provide a 3-year warranty, versus the 5-years for Seagate.
