Strengths: Good sound quality, Slider volume control, Relatively affordable price.

Weakness: Little distortion at high volume.

Good sound for affordable price. However, there are some distortion in high volume setting, and also I could hear little bit of noise in treble sound.
Overall, Mx 500 is good choice for beginner or somebody who looks for the good sound with good price.

Strengths: it works very well with Dell laptop, and Dell Jukebox MP3 player. cheaper and better comparing to panasonic or sony earbuds at the price range of $20-$40.

Weakness: Bass could have been a little more improved. Some distortion in lower frequency ranges, but only noticeable in very clear audio files. Higher frequencies tend to produce a slight hiss

If comparing to ipod buds, MX500 have better clarity at the middle range. MX500 do not color the sound like Sony brand, they just give you a crisp natural image of the sound. If you need more bass, you can always use the bass boost on your ipod. I would recommend MX500 over Sony/Panasonic earbud at the price range of $20-$40 because they are much clearer sounding overall and you can't beat the price tag, $16 shipped from amazon, i acutally got it for $9.99 shipped

Strengths: Excellent audio quality. Surprisingly good base. Comfortable ear plugs. Integrated volume control

Weakness: Very short cord (3ft from jack to earphone). Volume control a bit flimsy.

These are one of the best earphones I ever owned. The audio quality is excellent - high as well as lows. Definately worth the money, i paid $15. The only complain i have is a very short cord, so you can barely keep your mp3 player in your pocket and have the earphones reach.

Strengths: Great sound. Convient volume control. Low price.

Weakness: Short wire. Another few inches would be handy.

Gotta be the best deal going in headphones. It's comfortable, amazing sound and a surprisingly low price. My only beef, and it's a small one, is that the wire length could be a little longer. For instance, I can't put my iPod in my front pants pocket without the wire pulling a bit. Overall, I'm very pleased.

Strengths: Very clear high ends, comfortable to wear, and reasonable price.

Weakness: Weak bass.

The Sennheiser MX-500 earbuds are nice but don't get your hopes up too high if you're looking for excellent bass. I don't hear the good bass sound that some other reviewers raved about. I bought them in hopes that they'd be better than what I have, and they made me appreciate more the one's I have. I did a side-by-side comparison with the earbuds that came with my new Psyc Walkman and MuVo TX MP3 player, and the MX-500 doesn't perform as well as either the Sony or Creative. My overall rating is Creative 10, Sony 9, and Sennheiser 7. With the MX-500 I hear crystal-clear highs which may at times be overly-accentuated because very high frequencies produce a hiss that sounds like an FM station off the air. I hear nice, accurate bass notes but the understated bass is more of a low air-push sound than a boom. Classical music purists will enjoy these buds, but listeners of Rock, Jazz, Pop, and Rap will not hear the booming bass offered from Creative and Sony earbuds.

Weakness: Earbuds feel a bit uncomfortable after a while.

I bought these earbuds to listen to music on my handheld. The Sennheiser brand has a reputation for quality, and I haven't been disappointed. You won't get *really* great sound like you would with more expensive models, but at this price you can't go wrong.

Strengths: The sound is very clean and natural. Good frequency response for different kinds of music. I especially like the linear volume control in the middle of the cord, it's cute.

Weakness: The bass need to improve somehow.

I have used this mx500 for a couple of days, and made a side by side comparison with the earbub come with my Creative Muvo, it performs much better. It is a good choice for mp3, portable cd and other devices without a lot of power output as they are very efficient.

Strengths: Excellent Value - great product for the price Solid Bass

Weakness: Not 100% "clean" sound. Mid's are a little weak

I bought these headphones as a replacement for the OEM Dell DJ headphones that come with my unit. The Dell headphones were very mediocre. I don't understand why companies would spend so much money to create a great MP3 Player while including 2 dollar headphones.

For the price these Senn MX 500's are a great buy. They perform better than the older Sony & Aiwa earbuds I've owned in the past. They are probably a little less responsive than IPOD OEM earbuds, but in terms of value, these Senn's really do the trick.

They fit comfortably. The bass response is excellent. The mid's & high's can use a little boost, but still sound very good.

I highly recommend these earbuds.

Strengths: Lightweight, nice in cord volume control

Weakness: No great bass, but what do you expect from a standard earbud?

These are great little earbuds, and IMHO, better than the standard Apple iPod ones in sound and comfort. Earbuds less than $10 usually tend to have poor sound. They tend to be more comfortable with the cushions on, but if you constantly put them away (like in a backpack), the cushions will come off. But durability seems to be great otherwise -- I haven't had any issues with them falling apart or cord fraying (note I've used these off and on for the past year.)

They won't block much sound from your ears (unlike Etymotics or Shure E series), but the overall frequency response is excellent. Cord length is about right for use with portable players.

This is not my regular pair of headphones, but when I want earbuds, I use these. A recommended buy for anyone looking for a great pair of earbuds at a reasonable price.

Strengths: Compact, not too bulky. Sound is good at drowning out other background noises and isn't susceptible to noise interference.

Weakness: A bit costy for starting line earbud headphones.

When I first put these earbuds in I was utterly amazed. From such small and compact holes came a thundering bass and powerful, rich sound. They don't have any problem with blowing out and are one of the best entry line earbud headphones I've ever listened to.

these earphones are really good, you can actually hear the difference. they get uncomfortable after awhile(only w/ the cushions on though). the volume changer is really useful, i recommend these if you dont mind the design...

Strengths: inexpensive, good quality

I'm very pleased with these earbuds, their sound is very good, pleasing and smooth... almost as good as my more expensive headphones. It's not tinny or overly heavy on the bass, though the bass is definitely there. It is by far the best of the earbuds that I own, and definitely better then anything packaged with your MiniDisc or CD or MP3 or Ipod players. The price is great too. The foam pads are very thin, but these can be easily replaced. The ear buds are on the larger side, but I find they fit quite well. The case is very convenient and the small size makes it very portable (I can take them with me everywhere). This is definitely a best buy.

Strengths: the transparent tremble sound,and a reasonable bass. the middle part of the sound is pretty good also. the smooth volume control is another good feature. i like it.

Weakness: a little bit shabby packing of the stuff makes it look cheap.

i like it. if the price drops a little bit later. I'll buy another two pairs. and bass, though it is "super-bass", still can't beat the beat it should be for most songs. but as a classical music listener, it's good.

Weakness: Still feel cheap made,uncomfortable for me

the best headphones for the money.These headphones sound absolutely great!The sound is great and they are not so large as to be too uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. The in-line volume control is an added bonus. Earbuds that cost 2 to 3 times as much as these don't have that feature.

Weakness: short cord, a slight distortion on high treble setting.

My first time trying Sennheiser headphone and I really like the quality of the sound. I was surprised at how stong the bass sound is! What a great contrast from the last headphones I had! The big earpieces work like ear plugs so they get rid of unneccesary noise. The volume control (tiny slider) can control a wide range of volume. It would've been nicer to be able to lower the volume all the way down to mute.
Overall I'm very happy with this product!

Strengths: Good all round sound. A little extra bass. In-line volume control.

Weakness: Cords a bit too short.

I bought these buds to replace the ones i got with my mp3 player, which in my opinion are poor. The many rave reviews i read on the net made me decide that these were the ones for me.
Intially i was a little disappointed. From what i read i exspected ear bleeding bass. Once i got over the initial disapointment, i realised these buds give a very rounded sound. There is no over emphasis on bass, as you might be lead to believe (although the bass response for a bud is pretty good). The mids and treble are very clear.
Don't expect them to sound like Hi-Fi headphones. But for something so small you get an exellent sound.

Strengths: handles super bass and high-sound very well, vocals great. larger range and more live than ipod 3rd gen earbuds.

Weakness: cord is too short

Overall I would love this mx500 for the $9.99 price i had paid. - setting my ipod to 'bass booster' gives it a very rounded live sound.

These buds are not sennheiser panacea that you may be hoping for with the renowned name, but given the $9.99 price tag, it is very attractive for buyers who just need a pair of lightweight earpieces while they are on the road.

Strengths: Great sound overall, nice cord length, not expensive, volume control on the cord, nifty case.

Weakness: A tad weak on the bass, the earbuds do not fit very well in my ears without the pads (which tend to fall off).

These overall are great earbuds. They perform much better than the standard earbuds that come with cd/mp3 players. They were $15.00 shipped from NewEgg.com. My only complaints are that the bass is a little weak and the earbuds fall out of my ears if the provided cushions aren't on.

Weakness: sometimes slip out, but for the most part fit well. Cord could be longer for my use

I have had earbud headphones before and have been disappointed after a few uses. These have been heavily used in the short time I have had them (5 hours a day) and I can say they surprise me with how good the bass is given their size. What do you expect our of earbuds - not much usually, but I can say that they are a great value for what you get.

Overall this is the most recommended earbud in its price range.
I like Classic and POP.What attracts me the most in Sennheiser MX-500 is its clean sound. Unlike other brands such as Sony or Koss, the Sennheiser MX-500 does not color the sound but only reflects the natural image. I admire its super calrification when listening to symphony and human voices.
But if you like bass a lot, the Sennheiser MX-500 may not suitable for you. I would say Sony Ex71 and Koss Portapro are better in this field. But considering its price, I think you have nothing to complain.

Everybody knows Sennheiser makes best earphones and headphones. This was indeed a very good product. Bass is powerful, and sound is very clear. It is very pleasant to listen to music with these earphones. The only weakness I could find was its cheap, flimsy design. They could do better than that.

Let's face it - anybody looking at MX500 should not compare this with those at 10 times the cost. For a little over 10 bucks, you get very good build quality and clear sound without distortion. And you won't lost your sleep if it breaks or gets lost. Comparing to those at the same price range, this is definitely a best buy. I owned a couple of pairs of SONY that were priced similarly, and they were not as good. I also own Sennheiser PX200, and I would say the sound is comparable with slightly different feel. The MX500 is more convenient to carry, and PX200 is much better for blocking outside noise. I'm not a tall person, but the cord for the MX500 might be on the short side even for me. If you are considering those as your workout pair, they are not good - they won't stay in your ears if you move too fast.
For the price, I wound highly recommend it.

Overall, I find the MX500's sound to be clear I've tried any number of earbuds, and these are very good.For the size and price they have very good sound quality that can't be beat. The openness and tonal balance is generally what you expect from Sennheiser.

Weakness: only wish they were white to match the ipod, hopefully they will release a white version soon

awsome sound for price, better than the stock ipod headphones, good bass (as long as you jack up the bass) and fit well in the ear.
def worth the money, cant go wrong for headphones for under 20 dollars. they are also lightweight, nice control feature on the cord
