Escort SOLO S2 Radar/Laser Detector

Strengths: Small and cordless

Weakness: Suction cups for the mounting bracket were not sticking to the windshield during one cold morning.

The detector is easy to operate and settings can be adjusted to an individual's preference. The product is small and light weight making it easy to use in other family vehicles. Also being cordless makes for a neater appearance.

Good detector, does the job

Strengths: Good quality. Good detection

Weakness: Not loud enough.

If you have your stereo even at a medium level, you can not hear detector go off. Additionally, the display is not very visible during daylight hours. The display should also be tilted towards the driver. I drive with mine mounted at an angle so I can read the display.

Unit Failed

Strengths: Picks up radar at far greater distances than other battery operated unit (Bel). Far fewer false signals as well.

Weakness: Unit failed after 3 days use. Poor customer service.

Unfortunately the unit failed completely after 3 days of use. Will not turn on. I am hoping the is an unusual occurrence. I have sent it to Escort for warranty service. Escort informed me that it was not purchased from a recognized Escort dealer but they would honor the warranty anyway. Be aware of this when making your purchase on-line. UPDATE- After nearly 6 weeks I still do not have the unit back from the "service" department.

Escort SOLO S2 Radar/Laser Detector

Strengths: Accurrate detection with minimal false alarms. Very long detection range. Good battery life.

Weakness: No rubber pads. Detector rattles on windshield sometimes.

Competes with the best corded radar detectors. Comes with its own hardshell carrying case with manual inside and batteries. Lives up to the Escort name. The best cordless radar detector out there.

Escort Solo S2 Cordless

Strengths: None

Weakness: Everything

This unit is the worst I have ever used. I have used far cheaper units that worked. This one did not. Never went off until face to face with a patrol car, on a very open highway. I will never purchase a product by escort again. The customer service department wouldn't return my call and supposedly only have one manager that takes care of everyones problems.....ha ha..... Don't waste your money.

BAD Circuit Board.... AGAIN

Strengths: no cord to cigarette lighter

Weakness: Suction cups kind of weak

I purchased the SOLO S2 on day 1. Day 3 and 5 the unit just shuts off. No notice. You have to remove batteries and reinstall in order to turn it back on. I returned (Exchanged) on day 6. On Day 13, it started all over again. Thank God for Best Buy so I don't have to deal with their customer service per these other posts. I did talk to an online customer agent who said it was probably the circuit board. No more exchanges - getting my bucks back, but I still trust Escort.

Strengths: Generally good detection from long-range

Weakness: Has failed twice! during 4 years of ownership-will NOT power on!

This unit is VERY overpriced, but works well. BUT, it fails repeatedly and costs $60 plus shipping to fix -MINIMUM for each repair. Also, as others have mentioned, customer service is rude, nasty, and genuinely unhelpful. They could care less that your $340! device has failed. When unit is sent in for repair, they basically hold it hostage until you hound them with repeated phone calls and long hold times, until they finally send it back to you ... seems like 2 months is the average. This company could surely use some competition. After owning a previous unit that also failed, I will never but from them again -STAY AWAY FROM ESCORT unless you are a masochist, or hopelessly optomistic that your experience will be the exception -it won't!

Brakes easy, lots of Laser false alarms, customer...

Strengths: cordless, nice features, blue lights, nice sound.

Weakness: poor designed mini headphone plug. Poor laser detection, weak detection due to battery limitation. Customer service is real bad. Expensive unit!

The customer service is patronizing, and sarcastic, I couldn't believe how rude this company is. He says "do you want the address or not" very rude tone. Regional manager has yet to return my call from voicemail. Online livechat was unapologetic as well. I would beware before spending money on a unit that breaks easy.
