Magellan Portable GPS Receiver SporTrak Map

Strengths: easy to use, screens are eaisly read, waterproof, and pc compatible and free batteries included

Weakness: none so far

i looked for a gps since jan2003 and bought this one
i got caught in a rain shower it's waterproof so if it gets wet it still works:)
i use a sony vaio desktop and easygps software the gps is pc compatible so its easier to download and upload waypoints to the gps and the pc cable is easy to attach to the gps and computer.battery life is quite good for me but you should carry a spare set if you leave it on for long trips

Helpful to know that you can communicate with your computer to download map detail.

Magellan Portable GPS Receiver SporTrak Map

Strengths: Compact, good battery life.

Weakness: Weak reception, especially in woods. Inconsistent readings. Slow to get even a rough location readin, and inaccurate relative to a similarly priced Garmin.

Used in Albany, NY area and Vermont. Very slow to settle down on a location, and even then quite inaccurate. In VT it was dramatically worse than Garmin and hadless useful screens.

Magellan Portable GPS Receiver SporTrak Map

Strengths: Basic functions are easy to use. This GPS has a lot of features. Support was VERY helpful.

Weakness: Screen is a little small.

I've traveled to several parts of the country with this unit and it has performed flawlessly.

It’s wonderful to be able to navigate to your destination in an unfamiliar city with confidence. Even if you do not purchase the detail maps, the unit will insure that you are always headed in the right direction.

This unit has many features that I am still learning, but the basic functions are easy to master.

Magellan Portable GPS Receiver SporTrak Map

Strengths: Outstanding GPS. Light weight easy to learn, and quick sattellite lock. No problems since I have had it for better than the Cobra I purchased.

Weakness: None Works better that I thought it would.

Very quick GPS lock. It was fast than what I was used to. Great display easy to work with commands and controls. Absolutely user friendly. I have tried two other brands of GPS system and this one outperformed in everyway. I really like this GPS because I didn't have to download any additional software to get it going, or have to pay extra to get more detailed maps. I this GPS has everything that I need and it is very accurate with 10 meters. I am in the army and GPS systems have become very important to our operations. We have stuff that is issued by the Army that costs thousands and thousands of dollars and does not work as well. This unit works far better and cost me less than $100.00. This is a great product, and I enjoy using it.
