Shure E-5 in ear monitors with Sensaphonics custom...

Strengths: Unparalled sound quality

Weakness: Price?

I travel extensively and am always looking for ways to isolate myself from the noise of crowds and machinery. I have tried many different earpieces and noise cancelling headphones, each has had it's drawbacks. Size, weight, poor sound reproduction, poor sound isolation and comfort issues. The Shure E-5's eliminate all of these issues for me, admittedly it took a while to find the adapter that gives the best fit in my ears. Shure includes multiple size foam and silicone adapters in the kit and also offers optional triple flange adapters which work well. However I finally opted for the custom molded earpieces from Sensaphonics, these fit my ears perfectly and allow me to listen to my Ipod for hours on end with no discomfort. The sound quality is so good that you have to experience it to appreciate just how good it truly is. Two words of caution, you must achieve a good fit in the ear canal to really appreciate these monitors and they are so good that they will quickly highlight any defiency in your source material or playback equipment. The price is high but the level of enjoyment far out weighs the price for me.

Shure E5C Headphones

Strengths: The headphones fit into the ear isolating the music to your ears and eliminating outside noise using sleeves that fit onto the headphones.

Weakness: The headphones unique shape is awkward to insert into the ear.

The headphones sound great with my Ipod. The crystal clarity of the headphones allows you to listen to the music or whatever at a low level as to not damage your hearing.

Shure E5C Earphones

Strengths: Impressive noise reduction. Vastly better look and comfort than bulky ear-muff headphones. Incredibly clear sound across spectrum.

Weakness: No weaknesses noted.

I am thrilled with these earphones. I travel internationally at least 2 weeks per month. I use the E5C earphones with my iPOD Nano to completely screen out the screaming kids and ambient noise of the aircraft. Only clear, intense music comes through as beautifully as with bulky, goofy-looking earmuff-type headphones.

Amazing sound and one little price-saving tip

Strengths: Excellent fidelity, fits like a glove

Weakness: none, if you'll pay for quality

You get what you pay for. While I paid a pretty penny for these, overall it costs much less than the dozen or so headphones I have invested over time with far less satisfactory results. I wish I had bought these first! Here is the trick though...save a couple of hundred bucks and buy the E5 NOT the E5c...same product-differnet market...unless you think the metal box is worth the extra money...NOT! Also be aware it is intended to be worn so that the HEAVY wire straps tightly BEHIND your head and that makes all the differnece in comfort. Watch Letterman sometime, and notice how the band is wearing them.

Shure E5c Sound Isolating Earphone

Strengths: powerful, strong bass.

Weakness: poor vocal or middle range sound in this price. too expensive.

I bought this earphone for a few days. Tested it with sony mp3 player, PC and home cinema system. For no doubt the bass is really strong and powerful. But lacking in vocal. It sounds clear but not lifely enough. If you're go for techno or trance music, so this is it if you don't mind about the price. If you're go for classical, vocal, instrument, etc... this will not be the best choice. As for this kind of sound quality in "headphone", I think you can get it around USD200 from the other brand.

I suspect that the reviewer did not achieve a good fit in the ear canal and was therefore unable to appreciate the true quality of this product. The source material and playback equipment must be up to a high standard to allow this product to shine. In my experience most MP3 players lack the necessary sound quality.

Shure E5 Fault

Strengths: Good sound

Weakness: Poor cable sealing

Within 2 years (warranty period) the E5 cables oxidise badly. Shure agent claimed that Shure said that this happens all the time and that Shure is unable to do anything about it. Certainly, not good for this pricing!!

Shure E5

Strengths: Great sound Quaility

Weakness: You pay for what you get!

They work great! The ipod music had to be played back in the highest quaility format, but that's no big deal. Moisture and corrosion really take it's toll on the cords. I found desicant was the cure. A bag of this stuff in the container with the ear buds keeps them dry and fresh. They sound better too. The custom molds take the comfort level to a new level, and gives a better external sound reduction. On stage these earbuds with the sensaphonics unit make the entire bands performance get better. We can hear ourselves, what a great invention!

compuplus is fast

Strengths: Sound quality is great. You will hear things that you have not heard before VS 30 to 60 $

Weakness: A little hard to use at first. Had to play with them for a little to get them in and out.

These are the first hi end ear buds I have bought. After just a few min of use I feel in love with them. I know that in the next few days I will get more comfortable wearing them and using them. One of the best things is you do not have to turn you iPod all the way up just to hear your music, thus saving some of batter for longer playback of music. I would recommend anyone looking for great sound quality ear bud to by them. Oh I have looked into getting custom ear pieces made for me but they are not cheep.
