Excellent for iPods

Strengths: Excellent sound quality, comfortable to wear, easy to carry

Weakness: the cord got stuck too easily and would drag your px100 off your head

I spent A LOT of money on this pair. New Zealand is such a small country that you simply can't find a place selling all kinds of headphones. I got this pair from a seller on Trademe for NZ$95, which equals US$60 at the time of writing. Far from a bargain. But regardless the price, it is indeed an excellent pair of headphone. It is the perfect match for my iPod Nano. Great sound!!! If you guys can get it for a good price, well, at least not as much as what I paid, then it's definitely the one to go for.

One trick for L and R, if you pick up your px100 with both earpads flip towards front, then you've got the L and R correct.

Great bargain; excellent quality

Strengths: Excellent sound and bass, portable, case, sleek, comfortable

Weakness: None for an ear pad headphone.

Wow, even my wife noticed an enjoyable difference with these. Audiophiles may not swear by these, but for the mainstream user these are a significant upgrade and a great set of cans. Very good price/peformance ratio, relatively stylish. Tempted to buy another one. Case is convienent and portable, although a little too much for everyday use, more likely to be used on roadtrips.

PX100 Open-Air Foldable Headphones - Black

Strengths: These headphones sound very good for the price. I compared to Bose On-Ear Triport headphones and while they do not sound as rich as the Bose, they are a close second for one-quarter the price.

Weakness: I appreciate the fold-up feature, but find these headphones difficult to fit into their case.

I was looking for a set of headphones for my iPod which were over-the-ear, responsive, yet light. These headphones fit the bill. They are suitable for running or other sports activities but are most comfortable to wear. Since headphones are almost impossible to try out prior to buying, I relied on user and product reviews to inform my decision. These headphones were highly rated and while there are better sounding , but heavier headphones available, these are a great buy.

Worth every penny on these grat head phones.

Strengths: Very Crisp sound, high volume and very very light

Weakness: Little bit pinching on ears

Let me tell you folks, I had many different head phones for before and consistantly searching for the best ones at a low price. I think I found them. I have Ipod video and hated those ear buds. I tried bose triport (around the ears one) and they are good but consuming the battery power very quckly and they are big. These are so far giving me the same kind of crips sound. Also the cord is shorter which is plus. I did research and the good reviews are true about these. Another great product in this price range people dont know, are from Ableplanet Linx Audio head phones. They are very crisp also but they are behind the neck kind of model. So either of these dont hesitate to buy.

excellent headphones!

Strengths: good balance, strong bass, packs into a protective case

Weakness: uses more battery juice than iPod earbuds

I bought these to use with my iPod, whose earbuds kept slipping out of my ears. A friend recommended these earphones, and I've been absolutely delighted with them. Exellent sound from the high to low end of the spectrum, good design, and they fold up compactly and can be stored in a case for protection. Highest recommendation!

Great headphones, especially for the price

Strengths: Compact, great sound, good cushioning on the ear pads, sturdy cable, strong plastic case.

Weakness: Substantially larger than earbuds (including case)

I bought these headphones to serve as my basic pair and I am not at all disappointed. I wish they were a little smaller, but that would likely impact the quality. The sound quality is excellent and the headphones are comfortable to wear. I am quite happy with them and think they are easily worth 2x the price.

PX100 headphones

Strengths: Very comfortable to wear, fold easily for storage, the sound is spectacular

Weakness: none

These headphones are quite comfortable on the head and over the ears, with adequate cushioning in both places. I use these with my ipod video and my xm2go and the sound is flawless.

Sennheiser PX100 Open-Air Foldable Headphones - Black

Strengths: good sound (esp. voice), really comfortable, collapsible

Weakness: L and R symbol should be indicated more clearly

I buy this headphone after in-store trial, once I took it to my home, I test it side-by-side with Koss KTX-PRO, this one is nothing but better, this one can sound clear voice; pure, clean, distort-free bass
this headphone is like a collection from many investments, like based on HD414, dulfol diaphragm (for pure bass) into a mini package
on the first couple days of use, it is recommeded to play for hours to warm up
this headphone is very comfortable to wear for hours, I used to have pain on my ears for extended time of wearing on Japanese brand headphones, this one don't have this problem
once I got this headphone, I can say bye-bye to all Japanese headphones, this one is the best buddy with portable CD/MD/MP3 player/portable computers

Sennheiser PX100 Open-Air Foldable Headphones - Black

Strengths: Sound quality, size, comfort.

Weakness: Build, useless casing.

The sound quality
I was referred to the PX100s by an audiophile site which I visit fairly regularly. It was rated extremely high with respect to all other sub-$50 headphones in it's class. While not possessing the sophisticated equipment to verify it's "quality," I do consider myself a amataeur with an obsession towards good sound; a vinyl deejay in my off hours. I would agree that these cans do sound excellent for it's price. There is a detectable emphasis in the bass range, but the mids-highs remain relatively untouched. I have yet (and I do like to kick the volume up) to actually overpower these phones to the point where any of these frequencies become noticably muddled.

The construction
Like most headphones, these are made out of cheaper plastic and metals. The 4'+ double-line(L/R) cord ends in a straight mini-jack. All the screws are sunk, and can be unscrewed using a smaller toolkit like those for fixing eyeglasses. The headband rests against your head using two cushions, which look like they might fall off, but are actually very securely attached on there. There is more than enough adjustment for all types of heads, and I've never had them snag hairs during adjustment. Now, sometimes for one reason or another the cord might snag on something and rip my headphones away. What this invariably ended up doing in my case is ripping the speaker adjustment attachment away from the headband. This breaks what I found to be a flimsy head adjustment bracket, and while you can put it back together, the band no longer incrementally "clicks" in adjustment, but rather just glides as it pleases. This became extremely annoying very quickly.

The useability
I found I could go on my cross-country runs with these on. They hold securely to my head without moving despite vigourous attempts to jump up and down. Eventually deep into your run, the bass may drive you insane, but it's a mute point. The actual speaker cushions are fairly comfortable, but anything beyond about a 15-20 minute run may cause slight frictional irritation. The cushions at the top make these extremely comfortable to wear just sitting around, listening to music. Keep in mind however, that these are open cans and everyone will know what you're listening to. Think of it essentially as turning your cans inside out and playing out instead of in; it can get quite distracting for others. These headphones can also collapse extremely well upon itself, good for a quick pocket stash.

The look
These headphones definitely stand out. Their design is fairly unique, and I personally like it. It's not too flamboyant, it's not too discreet. Strangely enough, these headphones look best when worn around the neck; but that's slightly beside the point.

The PX100 also comes with a protective casing, but this quickly became much to cumbersome and was quickly ditched.

The conclusion
I think the PX100s sound fantastic, but they'd probably be something I'd keep around the house or for a long trip. Something I could put a lot wear and tear on without too much worry. For now, they make excellent gaming headphones for my computer. However, if you're planning to use these for exercise or going for the best quality per buck, I might also recommend the Shure e2c line, roughly $60 at the time of this review. The earbuds are a bit more crisp at both ends of the spectrum and are more comfortable for longer runs (plus it's designed so that the cord runs down your back). All in all, I would still recommend the PX100s, as they would satisfy most fairly demanding listeners.

Sennheiser PX100 Open-Air Foldable Headphones - Black

Strengths: sound reproduction, clarity, bass tones, "oomph"

Weakness: none as yet

I've owned Koss, Sony, Maxxell, and various other brands over the years- throwaways to higher end sets- I have never had a sound experience as with these PX 100's. I bow at the feet of Sennheiser, for this is truly the ultimate. I normally dont gush in a review, but this is something else. Note- I purchased refurbed, at $29.00. A steal.

Sennheiser PX100 Open-Air Foldable Headphones - Black

Strengths: Light weight, great sound, comfortable, and portable

Weakness: none I can find, although I think that I could break them without trying to hard, but this is the price for portability/light weight.

I have these pluged into my nomad zen, and they sound fantastic, no problems being driven . I did have a pair of sony earbuds, but found that they gave a v.tiny sound with no/distorted bass. These are well balanced with good bass and nice bright treble. They are very comfortable, can hardly tell you have them on. cord is a good length for a portable, but not long enough to use with a home stereo without an extension.
I would recomend them to anyone who wants a set of good sounding cans for their portable player.

good things come in little packages

Strengths: Very open soundstage. Folds away in a very small unit. Very efficient, that is, you get a lot of sound from low volume levels.

Weakness: Sometimes you get the impression that they're delicate. Using the included hardcase is a bit of a production/ritual.

I've rather enjoyed my set of Sennheiser Px100's so far. I use them with my DAP and with my laptop because of the short cord.

With the laptop, they're particularly handy because of their efficiency. Some sound sources online have very low output, so with these you can crank it up and hear the quietest things.

I've actually already talked a friend into getting himself a set of the white ones for himself.

You simply can't beat the price for a set of headphones that give you this level of clarity AND portability.

Best you can get

Strengths: They are the best portable headphones, with superior bass and overall excellent sound recreation.

Weakness: None. Worth the price.

Take a look around for these headphones, and you won't be dissapointed. Sennheiser has always made great stuff, and these follow suit. The open design allows ambient sound to filter in (passing cars while walking in my neighborhood or passing hikers and joggers) addressing safety matters. The PX 200 are enclosed and make my ears sweaty (I live in the Mohave desert, it's hot enough).

Look for the Sennheiser PMX 100 in Europe or the Sennheiser.com site, and maybe the U.S. in 2006?, that have a "behind the head" band and over the ear clips. The are the exact same speakers (thankfully), but allow the user to wear a hat comfortably.

a kids review

Strengths: great sound, cheap($), folding, comfortable

Weakness: a little loose on the ears, R and L side indicators not really accented

I got these headphones as a gift, they were bought from amazon-used I think- never the less they are great. I got them for my ipod mini because i was gettin annoyed with every small earbud that I had tried (most were too big for my ear and had bad quality sound). Anyways i highly reccomend these! :)

Sennheiser PX100 Open-Air Foldable Headphones - Black

Strengths: Owned 4 of these - wow! Incredibly warm sound, superb bass -clear all the way around, from lows, to mids, to highs

Absolutely saved my MUVO MP3 player. Was going to get rid of it until the Sennheisers saved the day. The 100s brought in the bass that was mssing from this high treble player.

Sennheiser PX100

Strengths: sound quality, durability, comfort

Weakness: earpieces are a little loose

I'm not a major audiophile, but I noticed a significant improvement over my speakers (which themselves are pretty good) when using these headphones. They're lightweight, comfortable, and fold up (relatively) small for storage in the provided case. The case is rather bulky though, but it does protect them. I would recommend these headphones to anyone looking for good sound quality at a good price.

Sennheiser PX100 Open-Air Foldable Headphones - Black

Strengths: price, compact -- folds into own case, quality of audio

Weakness: none -- very good value

I am using this headset with a Treo 650. I searched for a headset that didn't cost an arm and a leg and gave better sound quality than the cheap sport headsets. In fact I compared the wound to one of them and found that it was cleaner with better frequency response. Beong able to fold it up into a plastic case is a major plus for portability as well as protection.

PX100 Open-Air Foldable Headphones - Black

Strengths: Stay on your head/ears.

Weakness: Since they don't fit as well as earphones, lose some of the clarity and have to use more volume.

My original ipod earphones would not stay in my ears, so I bought these. They stay on my head while I'm moving around, but since they are not as tight a fit, I lose some clarity and have to use more volume. I think it would be better overall to buy earbuds that fit and stay in your ears.

The most expensive junk headphones ever tested!

Weakness: Sound quality

I have Sennheiser PX 100 and Philips SBC HS500 Headphones and this Philips headphones gives me much better sound quality. I can't understand admiration for Sennheiser PX 100 seen in almost every review on the net. Sound from PX 100 is flat, high frequences induces terrible resonance (tested on Enya and Beethoven piano concerto). Philips SBC HS500 are much cheaper and much better!!!
Also, they are more comfortable then Sennheiser.

Really best earphone ever used, Sony is far behind.

Strengths: Sound quality is super.

Weakness: somewhat rigid, still the best.

Really best earphone ever used, if the sound is a little bit soft , will be better. However it is still the best I ever heard from my view.

Sony is far behind.

Sennheiser PX 100

The PX 100 is an open, dynamic, supra-aural headphone primarily targeted for mobile players. Their outstanding sound reproduction and foldable design makes them ideal for traveling or listening on the go. Considered by many to be Sennheisers answer to the Koss budget king the PortaPro, the PX 100 represents one of the great price/performance points in the Sennheiser line-up. Dynamic stereo mini...
