Good CameraStrengths: You can do with it all what u think you can do with it. Weakness: it is not able to land on the moon...!,seriously..i can't get a good night shot with 10X zoom. Everything is great, the auto mode is great, and the camera's mind of it's own is able to do things in good way, u don't have to think about so manythings to work out a good picture, The scenes are more than great, i have a young daughter, she moves all time suddenly,i do the Macro mode to shoot her, fast shutter time, and inredible result with 10X zoom that you always get it focused, with very...

pound for pound pretty damm goodStrengths: 10x zoom, size, speed, nifty lenscap Weakness: Very little manual control, not very configurable. The bare minimum. um, this is quite a decent camera, though I have only shot maybe 60 shots from it, from late this afternoon to this evening. The one shot I will post here is just setting it on a post at the Baltimore Inner Harbor and shooting it in normal mode. I want to try the landscape mode and see if the focus is any better. ...this is going to be tough. The camera has all that a shooter "needs". It is like...

so far so goodStrengths: 10x opt. zoom; the lens is 270 degree adjustable Weakness: not very easy to hold I bought this nikon S4 because of its 10x optial zoom and special design of the lens. The speed of operation with the camera is quite good; it starts quickly, is very responsive, and doesn't lag between shots (I hate the lag of nikon 4100). I used the camera both indoors and outdoors, and I'm pretty satisfied with the picture quality.

Nikon S4 breaks new ground! X10 zoom in your pocket!Strengths: x10 zoom in your pocket! Great pictures! Obviously this is not a camera "for the ladies." This camera is like a James Bond wet dream. X10 high quality zoom in your pocket. Amazing pictures. Even though its 400 ISO is nice and sensitive, and with low noise, some clueless consumers expect to take x10 zoom pictures at night with no flash in the dark! This camera gives you that x10 zoom which allows you to take THE picture you want....

COOLPIX S4 Digital CameraStrengths: swivel feature, 10X zoom Weakness: low light capabilities; hunger for battery power Although my wife and I had a reflex film Nikon camera before this one, we realized that we only needed a good compact superzoom automatic camera. That's why I chose the S4. So far we are happy with it. In the low light inside Galleria Borghese, I took lots of forbidden pictures by avoiding the use of the flash, and instead using the museum auto setting, placing the camera on some hard surface,...

Very GoodStrengths: Large LCD, long battery life, good pictures, good zoom, etc. Weakness: Small sensor size as all other digital cameras. I wish it had more wide angle not like all other digital cameras. I have used Coolpix S1 before and this is better camera than S1. Yes it's bigger than S1, but the 10x Optical zoom and more features. I also like D lighting feature from Camera too. The swirvel design makes good when I took a pictures with my wife. (I love this swirvel design.) I can make any angle shots and still can see my big LCD screen. Overall, I think it's another good camera by Nikon.

Buy this camera!Strengths: Swivel design, 10X optical zoom, smaller size, great price, and large LCD screen Weakness: AA batteries and no view finder After several years of waiting I have finally joined the digital camera revolution. I had been holding out because I wanted a smaller sized camera that had a good optical zoom (more than 4X). Unfortunately, all of the cameras on the market that had a decent zoom were gigantic. Well, not any more! It has arrived! Nikon's brilliant swivel design in its Coolpix S4 Digital Camera couples a powerful...

Great upgrade from the Coolpix 950Strengths: Same swivel design as the Coolpix 950. High resolution and very fast! Weakness: No lens cover. When my Nikon Coolpix 950 finally died I was heartbroken because there was no comparable camera. I really use the swivel feature much more than I ever realized until I had to go without. The Nikon Coolpix S4 has completely renewed my love of digital photography. This camera is the PERFECT solution for those of us hwo need the flexibility this camera offers. I do wish that there was a lens cover...

Nikon Coolpix S4 6 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: Fast startup, incredible color quality, 10X optical zoom is awesome! Weakness: NO image stabilization, forget long night shots with zoom Best buy in it's class. Flexability of swival zoom allows shots you wouldn't normally get. Auto mode handles almost everything. Fast startup and operation. Did have a problem with freezing during long zoom night shots; had to power camera off and on to restart. Still, a great camera and I would purchase again in a minute.

Nikon Coolpix S4
The S4 is an interesting camera, but its unusual design is only partly successful. Certain features make the S4 larger and bulkier than most point-and-shoot competitors, and most casual shooters will likely prefer a smaller camera. Top

A long zoom, pivoting design, and easy one-handed operation make shooting fun. But the price is high and battery life is shor Top

DCRP Review: Nikon Coolpix S4
Ultimately the Coolpix S4 is an average camera in a sea of excellent ones. It's unique design allows for some creative shooting, and it's a heck of a lot smaller than any other ultra zoom. At the same time, there are better ultra zoom cameras out there, offering manual controls, image stabilization, expandability, and more. For those who value the S4's form over its features, it's worth a look. Top

Nikon Coolpix S4
Nikon's Coolpix line of consumer digital cameras has always been well-received and greatly appreciated for its overall image quality and ease of use. The Nikon Coolpix S4 packs a lot of features, including a 6.0-megapixel CCD with 10x zoom lens, and a surprisingly large 2.5-inch LCD into a fairly compact package. For the average consumer willing to delve just slightly deeper than just pushing the... Top

Nikon Coolpix S4 Digital Camera Review
Nikon returned to the pivoting-lens design of its Coolpix 900 series for their latest ultra zoom camera, the 6 megapixel Coolpix S4. Built around a 6.3 to 63mm lens (equivalent to a 38-380mm zoom on a 35mm camera) and a 1/2.5-inch imaging chip, the 4.4 x 2.7 x 1.4-inch S4 offers shooting versatility in a portable package. While many ultra zoom cameras strive to imitate the styling of DSLRs, the... Top

Nikon had a lot of success with its Coolpix swivel cameras in the 900 and 4500 series; many serious photographers, and even some professionals, used those models. But over the last few years, the design disappeared from Nikon's lines. Now the S4 has brought it back - is it still a good choice for demanding users? TopAdvertisement

One-of-a-Kind Point and Shoot Camera
Strengths: Swivel design, 10x optical zoom, great image quality, 2.5-inch LCD display, AA batteries, almost instant camera startup, Best Shot Selector
Weakness: No image stabilization for still pictures, only average (for compact point & shoot cameras) low-light performance, and LCD can be difficult to see from some angles in bright sunlight
This camera truly is one-of-a-kind. There is no other 10x zoom swivel camera sold today that can fit in a jacket pocket. (It's not compact enough, however, to fit comfortably in most shirt pockets.) The swivel design allows you to take pictures from angles that are just not possible or very difficult for non-swivel cameras...you can position the camera above people's heads and are still able to...
