Magellan Explorist 100 Portable NavigatorStrengths: Inexpensive, Good position accuracy, Easy to navigate the menus Weakness: Not a lot of bells and whistles Very reasonably priced, appears to be well built, and performs very well. As long as you know that it is limited in its functions there is no reason not to like this unit. It's a great choice for a first-time GPS receiver.

eXplorist 100: great for the great outdoorsStrengths: Accurate, long battery life, good features, easy to use and fun as all get out. Weakness: No roads, points of interest are removed if batteries are left out of the unit for too long. I purchased this unit a little over a month ago from Amazon.com. Magellan Explorist 100 Portable Navigator
Strengths: Excellent price, quality construction, large display, easy to use, extremely accurate (WAAS enabled)
Weakness: Takes a while to lock onto satellites from a cold start (approx 2 minutes), no maps, no dataport
I researched dozens of GPSr units here at pricegrabber. I spoke with a lot of friends and compared this unit to other brands on the market. Ultimately, I bought this unit because of the price. I have used it for 4 geocaches and the accuracy is great. It is easy to enter waypoints. I wish it had a dataport and maps.
