Magellan Portable GPS Receiver SporTrak MapStrengths: Compact, good battery life. Weakness: Weak reception, especially in woods. Inconsistent readings. Slow to get even a rough location readin, and inaccurate relative to a similarly priced Garmin. Used in Albany, NY area and Vermont. Very slow to settle down on a location, and even then quite inaccurate. In VT it was dramatically worse than Garmin and hadless useful screens.

Weakness: None Works better that I thought it would. Very quick GPS lock. It was fast than what I was used to. Great display easy to work with commands and controls. Absolutely user friendly. i use this unit for geocaching and it is just great. i have had no trouble getting satellite coverage under trees, bad weather, etc. i installed mapsend topo on my laptop and with the interface am able to load large area maps of any location i need.
